The grey cat has lots of new 'favorite spots'

Memorial Day, 2010

Dude- The new Knitting Addiction ROCKS! Such funny words from a sweet grey cat, and yet- THIS PLACE ROCKS!! For those not in the know, Knitting Addiction moved in March and I, the fab grey cat moved too. (Like they were going to leave a really cute mascot behind to fend for herself? Seriously!!) We've been here a couple months and I just love everything about the new location. It is HUGE (which I have mentioned before) but it is really great space. Room for all the yarn, room for new needles, room for tons of new yarn, room for people to look and shop without being crowded, room for Britt to have an office (I sneak in when she's not looking), room for me to have an office and even enough room for Jeanne to have a little space for her cluttery messes too! Very cool. Ok, I have to admit that I don't actually have an office. I just hang out on the counter in Jeanne's office. I'm perfectly happy here, and I don't mind sharing with her clutter. There is a great window in the office. It's my new favorite spot. I have a pile of blankets (I heard the evil rumor that they were "DOG" blankets- but obviously they are "Purrl" blankets). My window looks out on to the side yard and the parking lot at the KDH post office. You'd be amazed at how interesting the side yard is. A certain mockingbird and I have an ongoing conversation about who is in charge around here. I keep telling her it is my side yard, but she keeps sassing back that it is her side yard. Sometimes I have to bang on the window to let her know I'm the cat in charge.

The new space is so big I've even lost a little weight running around and and jumping up on displays to get to the wonderful back windows. (If you think the post office parking lot is interesting, you should see the kind of stuff that goes on at the Coin-Op.) I love the new sitting area. The red sofa is perfectly situated for me to hang out on the back cushion and watch what is happening on the highway. I mostly hang out on it at night and first thing in the morning, the new space gets perfect morning light!

Ok- on to the stuff that makes people happy and not the really cool stuff like good places to tease the mockingbirds. There is a bunch of new yarn. New stuff arriving daily it seems, Caroline the UPS person, brings us boxes almost every single day! Some of the new yarns the humans are talking about are "Classic Silk" by Classic Elite. It has really pretty colors and everyone is talking about how nice it feels. I rubbed up on a swatch and can vouch for how soft it is. There is a bunch of talk about how it is silk, but doesn't "behave" like silk, something about the blend of cotton and nylon. (Can you imagine people being happy about a cat who didn't "behave" like a cat? Crazy talk- must be the yarn fumes....) Anyhow, tons of that stuff is coming in the backdoor with Caroline, and going out the front door in shopping bags. Other new yarns by Classic Elite are "Pebbles" a cotton/ acrylic blend that is really neat. It washes well and has all the things we love with a little texture to boot. There have also been a ton of boxes from Mango Moon coming in the shop. The silk ribbon has people chattering almost as much as that darn mockingbird. Britt is knitting a summer cardigan out of it, and Jeanne has taken some home to work up a neat shawl. There is also a new wristlet on display- I checked it out when the shop was closed- pretty cute.

The last interesting thing I have to mention is "silky Alpaca Lace" from Classic Elite. The humans bought a couple bags of mixed colors and are really impressed with the yarn. It is just what lace knitters love, really lovely colors, beautiful hand, and a great price too! 450 yards are only $11, that's pretty cool. There is even a really pretty lace shawl pattern that comes free. Neat stuff.

Ok, time for me to sass the mockingbird!
